Annatar

In the early Second Age, a fair stranger walked into the Noldorin realm of Eregion calling himself Annatar, the Lord of Gifts. He claimed to be an emissary of the Valar, sent to help heal Middle-earth. He stayed four hundred years. Gil-galad refused to admit him to Lindon. Galadriel did not trust him and would not have him in her land. Only Celebrimbor, grandson of Fëanor and greatest smith of his age, opened his workshop door — and under Annatar's instruction forged the Nine, the Seven, and in secret, the Three.
